This is the debut EP of "Hanauo".

Hanauo was the duo based in Yokohama, formed in the late 90s and broke up in the early 2000s. They had a special musical style that has a colorful and pop feeling by the exquisite post production and composition which consisted of dark and mysterious guitar sounds with a psychedelic atmosphere.Their music was acclaimed by several Japanese music magazines at that time.

Their album was supposed to be produced by Adam Pierce (Mice Parade) and to be released by the Japanese label After Hours. But it was discontinued by various reasons. After that, their activities stagnated.

A few years later, aotoao label who could not give up to release of their music, selected a part of the tracks from the album and released "Ear Sugar" as EP.

90年代後半から2000年代前半にかけて横浜を拠点に活動したバンド「花魚（ハナウオ）」。ダウナーなギターサウンドと不可思議な電子音響を扱いサイケデリックな雰囲気を感じさせながらも、決して大仰にはならない絶妙な楽曲構成と練り上げられたポストプロダクションによってカラフルなポップさすらまとう特殊な音楽性を持つ。

当時、音楽雑誌などでも話題を集め、マイス・パレードのアダム・ピアースのプロデュースによりAFTER HOURSからアルバムを発表する計画があったにも関わらず諸事情により頓挫。ほぼ完成済みだったアルバムはお蔵入りとなり、それにともないバンドの活動も停滞することに。

それから数年、ハナウオの音源発表をどうしても諦めきれなかったaotoaoがアルバムの一部を引き受けシングルとして『イヤー・シュガー』を発表するに至る。

（すでにバンドの活動が休止しており、彼女たちが物販等でCDを販売する機会がないこともあり今回音源をアップし通販も開始することになりました。ぜひ聴いてみてください。）
